In my doctoral project, I am investigating structural power asymmetries in the academic field from a decolonial and intersectional perspective and the extent to which these shape different forms of academic activist work in higher education. The focus is on the experiences of early career scholars who are committed to a more socially just transformation or “decolonization” of science and society while working within precarious academic working conditions. A particular focus here is on emotional and social care work as forms of “(extra-)academic work” (Gillies and Lucey 2007) and on collective movement building. Her research is funded by the Hans Böckler Foundation.
